Linda and Roger Fasteson aboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth

Are you, like us, among the 76 million Baby Boomers who are, or are about to be, empty nesters? The time has come to experience the adventures of your dreams.

Nothing becomes real until it is experienced.     John Keats

Why take an ordinary vacation when you can have a great adventure? By sharing what we have learned in our travels around the globe, we hope to make travel planning easier for you. Learn to travel independently or to personalize prepackaged travel to suit your own interests. We look for travel experiences that are not only relaxing and revitalizing but also enlightening.

Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.     Miriam Beard

Our site is for people who enjoy travel as a way to learn, to grow, to broaden perspectives, and to better understand the people, places, and events of our world. We’ll help you decide when to splurge, where to go for the finest experiences, and how to find the best travel value. We’ll also show you ways to savor some of the best of what the world has to offer at little or no cost. We want to share our favorite adventures—the ones we just had to write about—and hope to help you create your own Notable Travels.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost (1874 – 1963), “The Road Not Taken”

Linda and Roger Fasteson are an award-winning travel journalism, photography, and videography team and produce feature stories, travel commentary, and food, wine, and cruise reviews.

You might find them shooting bison photos in the prairie, canoeing in an Amazon tributary, shopping the markets of Dakar, hot air ballooning over Albuquerque, riding the world’s most scenic or remote rail routes, cruising on luxury liners, working ships, and river boats, or captivated by anything from the sounds of Rotorua’s bubbling mud pools to the pageantry and grandeur as Queen Elizabeth opens Parliament. You’ll find them wherever there’s a notable adventure.

They are contributors to major newspapers, including the Boston Globe, are the travel features team for The Break, found in Sunday newspapers in the Northeast, and are freelance writers for numerous other print and online publications.

  1. Congrats on your NATJA Award. It is such a wonderful association. Were you at the conference in PV? I don’t believe we’ve met, but am happy to do so online.

    • Thank you, Doreen. I haven’t been to a NATJA conference for several years, but hope to do so again soon. Nice to meet you, if only online for now.
