Downton Abbey: The Exhibition is at The Castle at Park Plaza in Boston

Downton Abbey: The Exhibition brings the history, fashions and setting of this exceedingly popular 15 Emmy and 3 Golden Globe award-winning television series to Boston. It is suitable housed in the High Victorian style Castle at Park Plaza through September 29, 2019.

As home to WGBH, the broadcaster of this PBS Masterpiece series, Boston was selected as a most appropriate site for an insider’s view of the detailed attention that went into the production of Downton Abbey.

The exhibit begins with a short film featuring the Crawley family’s butler, Mr. Carson, inviting all to explore the upstairs and downstairs of Downton Abbey. It continues to the character gallery, which also offers series’ artifacts and a wealth of insights into the history and politics that were an integral part of the story line and character development.

The exhibition continues, room after room, with recreations of sets as well as over 50 costumes from memorable scenes in the television series.

Costumes in the gift shop area are a preview of what will be seen in the upcoming movie.

The movie “Downton Abbey” is coming to theaters in September.

Viking Cruises, in association with WGBH Masterpiece, continues its support for the television series with Downton Abbey: The Exhibition.
